News from the Santa Rosa campaign for traditional marriage

The moment we set up this morning on Mendocino Ave. in Santa Rosa and finished praying three Hail Marys, a man already began yelling insults at the top of his lungs. In order to avoid hearing the obscenities, we sang a hymn composed by St. Louis de Montfort, We Want God. It worked extremely well. He soon rode off on his bicycle.
Just across the street was the Santa Rosa Junior College, where many students study before going to UC Berkeley. We were later told that drugs are a big problem at this college.
First Assault Against TFP Member
Mr. Charles Sulzen stood by the curbside offering fliers to passersby when suddenly, a SUV pulled up and flung a Starbucks mocha coffee in his face and sped away shouting obscenities. Thank God the coffee was not hot enough to burn Mr. Sulzen's face, however, some coffee did get in his eye causing prolonged irritation and blurred vision. His white shirt, tie, sports coat, and TFP cape were heavily stained with large splotches of dark sticky coffee.
In the midst of such an unpleasant event, I am glad to report that Mr. Sulzen was not discouraged or upset in any way. He continued to cheerfully campaign for God's marriage in a sticky, stained blazer, confident that good will ultimately triumph over evil.
Some of the coffee also splashed and stained one of our banners, the one that reads: "God's marriage = 1 man + 1 woman."
Attempt to Stifle Free Speech
Not long after the coffee incident, a male student sporting a beard and long hair which resembled the likes of Che Guevara, planted himself in front of our banner and would not budge. The longer he stood there, the more he physically trembled and shook and twitched. He was politely asked to move to the side so that others might read our sign. He would not oblige, but continued to rudely stand there obstructing our pro-traditional marriage banner and stretched his arms out to cover a larger area of our banner.
To document this attempt to stifle our right to free speech, Mr. Kenneth Murphy starting filming. When the student realized he was now on candid camera, he almost broke down. "You do not have permission to film me. I do not give you permission to film. Stop filming," he repeated again and again.
Just then, a police officer on a motorcycle was passing through the intersection and the student yelled out: "Officer, officer: Help! Help!"
The officer pulled over and said: "What's the matter?" Instead of approaching the officer, the liberal student ordered the police man to come to him. "If you want to talk to me, get over here," replied the officer.
"They are filming me without my permission," the student complained. "You're in a public place. If they wanted, they could film me all day long. There's nothing wrong with that." The student then said: "I am braking any law by standing in front of their banner?" The police officer answered: "Look, use good judgment. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if they stood in front of your sign, so don't block theirs. If you want to make your own sign, fine. But don't block their sign. Fair enough?" The case was solved.
Thank you officer!
Second Assault Against TFP Member
In the afternoon we moved into the heart of Santa Rosa. There, something very shocking occurred. As we got out of the van to prepare for our next campaign, a mid-age woman walked up to us and inquired who we were and what we were doing. She was obviously curious to know. I thought nothing of it and politely explained that we were "campaigning for traditional marriage, the union of one man and one woman, the way God made it…"
No sooner had I finished speaking when she exploded with rage. She shouted, gesticulated in an obscene manner, screamed, and yelled. All ten of us just stood there on the sidewalk, shocked into a kind of stupor, thinking "Is this really happening? Is this real, or just a bad dream?"
It was real. I am not exaggerating.
She started walking away backwards, facing us, and continued to scream vulgarities without control or restraint. Mr. Kenneth Murphy thought it would be a good idea to film the incident for the record. Well, she came charging back towards us, almost running. "Give me the tape!" she demanded. "You're going to jail. I am going to sue you. Give me the tape." She then attempted to strike Mr. Murphy who moved back and landed a harsh blow against his video camera. The blow was violent. It disabled the settings on the camera.
As before, she walked away backwards, cursing and swearing with rage.
Please continue to pray for us and for the restoration of moral family values in America.

To traveling TFP members:
"May our loving God the Father bless every one of you! May His Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ send all the angels, archangels and principalities in heaven to guard you; may the Holy Spirit grant you wisdom and prudence in your mission of evangelization; and most especially, may Our Blessed Mother Mary touch the hearts of all who hear and listen to you.
In light of the negative (and most often) violent responses and reactions of the opposition, your mission is not an easy and safe one. We are, therefore, inspired by your courage, tenacity of your faith-convictions, your sacrifices and abandoned-trust in the care of Jesus and His Blessed Mother.
My husband and I will keep you in our prayers; and, though my husband is bedridden because of illness and cannot join me at mass as I offer it for your intentions, he offers his spiritual communion for you. Please keep him in your prayers, as well.
May The Blessed Virgin Mary's Immaculate Conception be your health and protection."

"Thanks a great deal for standing up for traditional marriage. It's about time somebody does something like this!!! You all will be in my prayers & believe me, GOD WILL HELP YOU TO DO THIS AS WELL. I will offer my Rosary for this cause. I love the state of California. I spent some time there when I was little. I love it. I am not fond of thinking of California's destruction."

"We just wanted to let you all know that you are in our prayers - we are praying for your safety from all evil, all harm, all incident and all accident and that you reach many people with your unwavering message of faith and morality.
May God bless you abundantly for all that you do and may Our Lady place you under the protection of her mantle."
